Ken Farmer is a lifelong resident of Virginia. He and his wife Jane have been avid students and collectors of Americana and Southern material culture since they were married in 1974. They now reside in Charlottesville, Virginia.

For over 40 years, Ken has been working in the antiques business. He began his career as a dealer in American fine and decorative arts, and has since become a valued authority in many areas of expertise. In addition, Ken has established himself as an advisor, appraiser and auctioneer, handling all categories of fine and decorative art. Ken travels throughout the country doing presentations on antiques and fine arts and he conducts appraisal events for public and private clients.

Ken has appeared on Antiques Roadshow since its inception in 1996 as a specialist in folk art, furniture, decorative arts and musical instruments. Ken is also a consultant with Freeman's Auction in Philadelphia, Americas's oldest auction house, founded in 1805. They are always seeking consignment or the private sale of fine art, jewelry and decorative arts in all categories — American, European, Asian and British.
